Death of a Legend and an American Icon.

As a boy, I can remember watching reruns of The Andy Griffith Show.  I loved the show and it’s endearing charecters.  Mayberry left an indelible stamp on all of them.  You couldn’t watch Don Knotts in The Apple Dumpling Gang or The Shakiest Gun in the West without thinking he was still Barney Fife just out on a lark, being Barney.  Andy Griffith made that show and won our hearts for generations to come.  Its amazing that with all the high action and techy shows out there, The Andy Griffith Show is somehow one of my children’s favorites.  It’s homespun truths still resonate today.  Andy Griffith thought to become a minister before he turned actor.  Maybe he still was, somehow, in his own way.  He touched us all.  Rest In Peace, Andy Griffith….and all of us in “Mayberry” grieve your passing.
