The Thanksgiving in ME

The thanksgiving in me
Looks forward to see
What blessings this season does bring

It’s more than the feast
The dough and the yeast
It’s freedoms we hale, we sing

We gaze misty eyed
At heroes who’ve died
To insure that we celebrate free

A child’s pleading eye
For a big piece of pie
In part is thanksgiving in me

To view nature’s charm
With my wife on my arm
Indeed, this is heaven on earth

The trees shed their leaves
Children play as they please
Oh, how I treasure their birth

This dinner of cheer
Heralds winter is near
Soon Dad, cut our big Christmas tree

Mom’s final say
Picks the tree that will stay
I love this thanksgiving in ME

The land soon will bow
With snow covered boughs
We’re all warm and cozy inside

This land that I love
Blessings sent from above
Is why I still live here with pride

A Few Good Quotes

Unfortunately, this column will come out too late for Veterans Day. But let me take this belated opportunity to express my profound gratitude to the many men and women who have fought for this Nation to preserve the Liberties we now possess. It is not lost on me that in many nations this columnist could not write the way I do without fear for his life. So thank you again to those great citizens, my father being one, who have sacrificed so much for the things we take for granted.
The freedoms we enjoy will now take on more intrinsic value as we watch them fade away. Yes, we have watched the erosion and did little to shore against the loss. Now, we will watch the storm come and demolish everything we hold dear, unless we stop watching, start doing and fight back.
Yes, the inevitable mockery, threats and disparaging remarks have been issued towards my person in the wake of last Tuesday’s loss, but my passion to “Set Maine Free” remains undeterred. We will fight on and never relent.
Here are some quotes that I find inspiring for very different reasons. First a quote from Theodore Roosevelt, “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”
Another quote keeps my soul burning towards the battle. It is a quote from Vladimir Lenin explaining how to defeat the west. “Corrupt the young. Get them away from religion. Encourage their interest in sex. Make them superficial by focusing their attention on sports, sensual entertainments and other trivialities. Always preach true democracy, but seize power as fast and as ruthlessly as possible. Encourage government extravagance, destroy its credit. Produce fear with rising prices, inflation and general discontent. Encourage disorders and foster a lenient attitude toward disorders. By specious argument cause the breakdown of the old moral virtues: Honesty, Sobriety, Self-Restraint. Cause registration of firearms (to) leave the population defenseless.” Two days after reelection President Obama signed on to the UN Global Weapons ban, which will strip the United States of the 2nd Amendment. Lenin’s path is nearly complete.
So how do we fight back? My last quote is from Ronald Reagan, “We have to find tough, bright young men and women who are sick and tired of clichés and the pomposity and the mind numbing economic idiocy of the liberals in Washington.” So who’s with me! Let’s Set Maine Free!

The Greatest Con

 

I have grown so tired and, yes, angry with liberal’s exploiting the love we have for our children in order to further the designs of their own agenda.  Every opportunist will find the weakness of those they wish to con.  They then wedge, manipulate and humiliate those they game with that weakness until they buckle under the pressure and go along with the plan.  Such has been the operational directives for liberals in this State for years.

Our greatest weakness is our natural desire to protect our children and provide a better future for them.  So with every new government regulation, every new bureaucracy and every tax hike comes the caveat that all this is needed for the children.  Of course, when we see the behavior of those that pad their pockets with our tax dollars, it is easy to see why they contend that all is for the children.  Sarcasm aside. Why is it that we, as Americans, repeatedly allow this dishonest sideshow to cavort through our citizenry under the guise of honest debate?  Perhaps it is time we make a concerted effort to confront this façade and call it for what it is, a lie.

How is it that ballooning a government into the behemoth that it is can be ascribed to the necessity of benefiting children?  How can it be moral to spend the wealth of children before they can even create it?  Yet the liberals who saturate the ranks of the Democrat Party, and some of the Republican Party, feel they have been granted some overarching power to dictate the futures (or lack thereof) for our children.  Shockingly, when one begins to research the beliefs of many foundational leaders of liberalism, socialism and progressivism, one can find that many believed government should be the parents of society and the populace merely the “breeders”.

These within the ranks of the left have been waging a war against property rights for years in this State.  And, yes, they claim that all the restrictions on private property are for our children.  So, are we to believe that our children have no desire to own their own property, land and a home?  Should we simply capitulate to the whims of socialists that believe that we all should live in grey, drab, lifeless, government-owned apartment buildings like Europe?  Does government really know how to manage our land better than us?

Government has a proven track record of destroying and corrupting everything it touches.  I, for one, do not want the government to be touching my children.  I find the bumper stickers that assume I must agree that a vote for government is vote for my children extremely offensive.  On the contrary, I believe that a vote for government is a vote against my children. As father of three, I can assure you that I will do everything in my power to keep my children out of the sinister clutches of government.  If they want to exploit my children for their own personal wealth, which is the pattern of government throughout the ages, they will have to do so over my cold dead carcass, which has been the pattern of Americans through out the ages.

Tip of the Hate-berg

After a family run business, Treworgy Orchards, placed a sign supporting traditional marriage near their place of business, gay activists began attacking them on facebook for their beliefs.  The attacks were so intense that the family chose to pull down the sign.  While TMCV is disappointed that Treworgy Orchards backed down from these character assassins, this should be a warning to Maine residents and businesses to what is in store for this State and its economy if we vote to redefine marriage.  Any who disagree with the gay community will be politically bludgeoned until they knuckle under to the will of the minority.
