THE RED COUNTY CAUCUS URGES SUPPORT OF GRAHAM-CASSIDY

THE RED COUNTY CAUCUS URGES SUPPORT OF GRAHAM-CASSIDY

In 2008, a small rural county in Maine gained national notoriety as being the only county in all of New England to vote against Barack Obama and stay red. This singular moment in political history earned Piscataquis County the title of “The Red County”. Considered by some as the most conservative county east of the Mississippi, Piscataquis holds the well deserved reputation of being a bastion of conservatism for the east.

Soon after 2008, local politicians and conservative personalities from Piscataquis County joined forces to form The Red County Caucus (RCC). The idea was to impact the Maine political arena by an endorsement from a noted conservative group. With Piscataquis’ established reputation, it was obvious this was the time. The RCC immediately impacted the political landscape of Maine by endorsing Paul LePage for Governor.

Maine, as well as the Nation, are facing crucial decisions in our future. These decisions will determine whether we become a State and a Nation of people that forfeit our freedoms or take them back from government overreach. The Red County Caucus once again will be at the forefront of political influence in our State.

The Red County Caucus is ready to speak to the challenges of a new election. The Red County Caucus will be weighing in on the crucial issues of our day starting here with healthcare. Along with statements on several issues, The RCC will give an endorsement for the Governor of the State of Maine.

Graham-Cassidy

The best government is the government that governs least and local governance is the best governance. The Free Market is the best purveyor of healthcare. Unfortunately, our government has violated these proven truths and now we are caught in the tentacles of their misdeeds, Obamacare (ACA).

When it comes down to it, all healthcare is local. Our Federal government, through the passage of Obamacare, has eliminated local control from our healthcare system and established rules that are mandated to every person and business. This is the suppression of our individual freedom.

The ability to make choices about what health insurance options we want, or if we want health insurance at all, has been taken out of the citizen’s hand. This has gone too far. We must take action.

Massive increases in premiums and deductible costs are hurting regular citizens and businesses. All around us we hear of neighbors, friends, and businesses crushed by Obamacare, yet Washington stubbornly continues to tout the ACA as the answer to protect our citizens. The time has come to make significant changes to Obamacare, since Washington is unable to repeal and replace the entire bill as promised.

The Graham-Cassidy bill is not perfect but makes significant improvements to the existing law. This bill will return much of the control to the states rather than the federal government, eliminate employer and individual mandates, eliminate some taxes, and retain protection for patients with preexisting conditions. Graham-Cassidy will begin the fight to get the federal government out of the health insurance business and curtail significantly the hardships imposed by Obamacare on millions of our fellow citizens.

The Red County Caucus strongly urges Senator Susan Collins to heed the disastrous impact the ACA has had on her constituents here in Maine and support Graham-Cassidy. We urge Maine citizens to contact Senator Collins and remind her that “We The People” want these changes. Her vote to support individual liberty in Maine is needed now.

The Greatest Con

I have grown so tired and, yes, angry with liberal’s exploiting the love we have for our children in order to further the designs of their own agenda.  Every opportunist will find the weakness of those they wish to con.  They then wedge, manipulate and humiliate those they game with that weakness until they buckle under the pressure and go along with the plan.  Such has been the operational directives for liberals in this State for years.

Our greatest weakness is our natural desire to protect our children and provide a better future for them.  So with every new government regulation, every new bureaucracy and every tax hike comes the caveat that all this is needed for the children.  Of course, when we see the behavior of those that pad their pockets with our tax dollars, it is easy to see why they contend that all is for the children.  Sarcasm aside. Why is it that we, as Americans, repeatedly allow this dishonest sideshow to cavort through our citizenry under the guise of honest debate?  Perhaps it is time we make a concerted effort to confront this façade and call it for what it is, a lie.

How is it that ballooning a government into the behemoth that it is can be ascribed to the necessity of benefiting children?  How can it be moral to spend the wealth of children before they can even create it?  Yet the liberals who saturate the ranks of the Democrat Party, and some of the Republican Party, feel they have been granted some overarching power to dictate the futures (or lack thereof) for our children.  Shockingly, when one begins to research the beliefs of many foundational leaders of liberalism, socialism and progressivism, one can find that many believed government should be the parents of society and the populace merely the “breeders”.

These within the ranks of the left have been waging a war against property rights for years in this State.  And, yes, they claim that all the restrictions on private property are for our children.  So, are we to believe that our children have no desire to own their own property, land and a home?  Should we simply capitulate to the whims of socialists that believe that we all should live in grey, drab, lifeless, government-owned apartment buildings like Europe?  Does government really know how to manage our land better than us?

Government has a proven track record of destroying and corrupting everything it touches.  I, for one, do not want the government to be touching my children.  I find the bumper stickers that assume I must agree that a vote for government is vote for my children extremely offensive.  On the contrary, I believe that a vote for government is a vote against my children. As father of three, I can assure you that I will do everything in my power to keep my children out of the sinister clutches of government.  If they want to exploit my children for their own personal wealth, which is the pattern of government throughout the ages, they will have to do so over my cold dead carcass, which has been the pattern of Americans through out the ages.

The King and Lie

The King and Lie

“For a better guarantee of public safety, the post 9-11 world is one of constrained liberties.”  This quote from Angus King, in itself, should be enough to cause every freedom-loving Maine resident to recoil in disgust from the very thought of voting for this man.  It shows the foundational core of the former Governor’s thought process as it relates to the public.  For all his clamor and show to promote his façade as a centrist and independent, Angus King, to be sure, is no centrist and neither is he independent.  He subscribes to the same tired, liberal and leftist worldview that the public is simply the masses that need to be herded and constrained like so many cattle until they have been prodded by government into a place of “safety”.  This is the same Governor who, after the Maine people had voted overwhelmingly against gay marriage, said the people had spoken and it was obvious they were in need of more “education” on the matter.  As one looks through the annals of history at the different public leaders who have sought to “educate” the masses one begins to feel uncomfortable with the constraints of a “guarantee of public safety”.

With statements like these, it’s bewildering, at best, to try and understand the Governor’s appeal to so many good and grounded Maine people.  What is even more surprising is the success that Mr. King has enjoyed in the Northern and Central regions of Maine, rural areas known for the demand for common sense and low tolerance for dishonesty they place on leadership.  So how does a man so disdainful of personal liberty pull the proverbial wool over the eyes of so many normally shrewd and discerning individuals?  It’s all in the art of lying.

A firm handshake, a direct, unwavering look in the eyes and a measured, sincere tone of voice has always been the standard of honesty.  This hallmark has stood the test of the ages and has passed from generation to generation.  For those of us who work with our hands and the sweat of our brow, this has been a nearly foolproof way to take stock of those you could trust and those you could not.  For we all know that it is almost impossible for a dishonest man to stand in the grip of an honest man, gaze unflinching into his piercing stare and tell a lie…almost.

There are some that can and Angus King is one such man.  How else could one have so many thinking he is an environmentalist and all the while blowing the tops off mountains to accommodate his windmills?  How could a man convince so many that he has acquired his wealth through hard work in the private sector, when most or all of his wealth has come off the backs of hardworking Maine taxpayers through public subsidies and grants?  And how could he claim to Maine people that he is true independent when he has overwhelmingly supported the Democrat Party with his wealth?  Deep inside this man beats the cold, icy blood of an opportunist.  He can grasp your hand, look you straight in the eye and, with sincerest of voice, lie like a thick, shag rug.

Ah, you wonder, where is my proof?  You think I am, perhaps, blinded by my Conservatism.  These next few weeks we expose the “Honorable” Independent Governor to be the not-so-independent fraud that he is.  But in closing, consider this quote from Benjamin Franklin as a comparison to our introductory quote from Mr. King.  “Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither.”
