King of Wind Meets King of Slurpee

Maine people will just have to get used to seeing windmills on top of their mountains or at least that’s the decree issued to Maine residents by Angus King, self-crowned Majesty of all Maine’s landscape.  This was King’s answer to landowner complaints about seeing large white windmills atop of once idyllic mountains, views of which these retirees had hoped to enjoy from their lakeside cabins.  These residents were further incensed to hear that their own taxes had paid for the twirling monstrosities blocking their view of the fall foliage.  The response from Maine’s wind magnate, “Get used to it!”

The greatest of all Stealth Democrats has now joined forces with a new dictator.  He is the self-proclaimed Lord of all Calories and the Administrator of all Caloric Consumption and he’s backing King.  Yes, Mayor Bloomberg has insisted he knows best when any of his subjects in Gotham City belly up to the table or purchase any hated sweet syrupy things in large quantities from local corner stores.  Starting with banning large Big Gulp size sodas, Bloomberg has continued on his crusade against any form of food he finds offensive until the Big Apple, no, not a candy apple, knuckles under to his mandated menu.  When the not so loyal subjects complained that their diet was really none of the Mayor’s business, the Mayor’s response was a not so subtle, “Get used to it!”

Ah, aren’t they just a match made in heaven?  The Lord of the Wind and the Lord of the Belly.  Of course, wind blowing and food consumption go hand in hand and who better to be in charge of that than two corrupt politicians….and the answer is definitely blowing in the wind…I just couldn’t help myself…. I just couldn’t ….

Michelle Obama’s mandated menus are a big hit…in the bottom of the trashcan.  Yes, taxpayers, we have spent a lot of money to straighten out these kid’s bellies and they are chucking our federally mandated help right in the waste bucket.   Schools say they are going to combat this by sticking surveillance cameras on the trashcans to catch the many offenders.  Of course, I’m just a back woods hick but I think you can look in the cans, find the mounds of discarded food, and deduce that the kids don’t like what they are eating.  On the bright side, young children with entrepreneurial minds are smuggling in tasty food and selling those nasty calories.  They’re making a killing.  Ah, capitalism.

Americans.  We are Americans, are we not?  Then why do we allow self-indulgent despots to hand us a limited menu of choices?  Why do we allow the arrogant to stand over us and decide our futures?  If we allow those to stand and block the view of our wishes and hand us their own without options, then we will be left looking at a future not to our liking and the only answer left us will be, “Get used to it!”

Wind in His Sails

Maine’s “King of Stealth” should also be called the “King of Subsidized Wealth”. Not only did Angus King take a governing budget with a surplus and turn it into burdensome budget deficit before he left office as Governor, he also accomplished something far more heinous and detrimental to the well being of Maine residents statewide in keeping with his own selfish desires.   While hardworking Mainers toiled to free their State from the debt that King had incurred, the former Governor insured their labors would also make him very, very rich by introducing, promoting and signing into law legislation mandating wind power.

King’s law dictated to the State of Maine that 30% of its energy source must be wind. Then the former Governor quickly formed a wind energy company called Independence Wind.  King then shamefully protected himself from any of the normal financial risk of a start-up company by securing a taxpayer backed loan guarantee.  Instead of using his own money and risking personal loss, King obtained from President Obama a loan for 102 million dollars, yes, the same program that loaned money to Solyndra on the backs of taxpayers.  So on the front end King passes a law that requires Maine residents to purchase wind energy and pay the higher operating costs into a company he created.  On the other end, King requires the taxpayer to pay to build his company that is providing the service that taxpayers are being forced by law to purchase.  And the tax dollars are herded into the deep pockets of Angus King.

Ah, the luxuries of the monarchy.  If the venture of Maine’s own “King of Wind” fails, the King is still wealthy and the peasants poorer.  If the venture continues, the King is much richer and the peasants…well, still poorer due to the increase in their utilities bill.  The most galling of all is the revelation by an investigation from the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, that King should never have been given the money for his wind kingdom.  He had enough of his “own” money to foot the bill.  But King, the Stealth Democrat, and his Party Incognito, the Democrats, find it so much the more fulfilling to gamble on someone else’s money rather than their own.

While this scheme to exploit the earnings of taxpayers may seem like a boon of mandated wealth for Angus King, it has produced a visceral reaction from Maine voters.  Surprisingly, the left wing media support system of Maine’s own monarch is befuddled by the negative response of Mainers.  Those of us who prefer to embrace common sense will try to explain this turn of events in small words for them.  Maine people prefer that you earn your wealth on your own, not steal your wealth from others.

The misdeeds of Maine’s “King of Subsidized Wealth” have produced another unexpected result.  The great, glaring, white towers of tax-funded waste, King’s windmills, are now blowing winds of momentum into the sails of his challenger’s ship.  Charlie Summers has steadily, week by week, closed the gap between King and himself until he now stands poised to topple the presumptive winner of the U.S. Senate seat from his throne.  Angus King has long enjoyed the protection of his media allies but now must face the scrutiny of a grassroots organization, which is determined to use the unfettered Internet to expose his corruption and complete embrace of crony capitalism.  As the truth of his sinister behavior is exposed to this State and the Nation, honest men and women, who vote, will want to know more about the not so honest behavior of a man who longs to garner their vote to further expand his own personal kingdom.

The King’s Throne is Tumbling

Marc Thiessen of the Washington Post writes an insightful article that probes into the recent downward spiral of Angus King’s popularity.  It may be that the debt and corruption that Governor King laid upon the backs of Maine residents may not be as theoretical as he has led us to believe.  With the winds of truth beginning to blow into the sails of the Charlie Summers campaign, perhaps there is hope for Maine after all.

The King and Pie

The allure of the American dream is the driving force to what makes and keeps this nation great.  Through the ups and downs of our history, the drive of those wishing to carve out there own piece of the proverbial pie has given the United States an resiliency to rebound through every crisis that has come its way.  The hope and dream of one day living in comfort and wealth, supported by the fruits your own hard labor, is one the fundamental freedoms we hold dear; that slice of pie that tastes oh, so sweeter when it is baked with the recipe of your own design and ingenuity for your own loved ones to enjoy through the generations.

What seems like traditional common sense to us, is surprisingly offensive to many who hold public office; at least it seems, if they can’t take a piece of it.  The President has said that all the flavors and spices of the American entrepreneur, who have toiled to create their own recipe for success, well, we really didn’t create that or build that.  All that slaving in the kitchen of hope and reality striving to create a concept and, then, the reputation to compete for wealth in the free market, was none of our doing.  Somebody else did that.  This President also believes that there comes a point when you’ve earned enough money and should stop?  That should keep those economic engines running smoothly.  What would possess a man to say something so stupid and so loose from reality?  The President is a man who has never done anything that has not been funded by public tax dollars.  He has never earned his own way, baked his own pie.  So he assumes this is the way it is done.  And this is our President….

One of the President’s greatest supporters, Angus King, has also earned his own wealth off the backs of taxpayers.  It seems, for Maine’s resident King, the pie tastes sweeter baked by someone else.  Government backed subsidies have been King’s slice of choice.  As with Solyndra, there is no risk to the recipient of the subsidies.  If the business fails the taxpayer is left holding the bag.  If the business succeeds, why the King is that much richer.  So Maine’s monarch has been busily blowing the tops off mountains and planting glaring white behemoth windmills in place of the trees he’s clear-cut on your tax dollars.  Ah, but he is the environmentalist.  He is allowing Maine taxpayers the opportunity to fund the biohazard crews, who have to cleanup all the oil draining out of these windmills.  This is the epitome of big government.  One government agency created to cleanup the mess of another government mandate.  But the pie doesn’t look so appetizing after too many have had their fingers in it.

Angus King is one of many leftist, progressive politicians, who view the American taxpayer as an un-ending fund for their personal wealth.  They don’t have to earn it. They just have to take it.  Angus King is another like his ally, President Obama, who has never earned his wealth through hazards of the free market world.  They have inverted the concept of our founder’s government from one that is subservient to the will of the people to one that is subservient to the will of the government.  The monarchs of old would be proud of King’s exploitation of the people and their hard work.  After all, we didn’t build that pie and we may just have too much of that pie.  Don’t worry the King will take what he needs and we’ll be left with just the right regulated amount.  Just doesn’t seem American ….does it?

All this talk of pie has made me hungry.  I think I’ll grab a slice.  Oh, no! It looks somebody took mine…
