Frenzy

The impeachment ship is foundering in the breakers of the Mueller report. From blaming Trump election despondency for their obsessive reporting to outright denial, the old guard media is at loss to explain how their spin got “unspun” before the eyes of the Nation. The old ships are taking on water.

The frenzy to destroy a man, to be his undoing, has Americans wondering if they are witnessing a psychosis of sorts. To be so prejudiced against an individual that some in the public eye are willing to abandon any and all tethers to reason, is unsettling to the average citizen. Americans have begun to recoil from the crazed who crave destruction.

Maine was left in the best financial position it has been in decades, but here too the frenzy took hold. Focused instead on a Governor who some found offensive in manner and deed, the quest to destroy his accomplishments engaged at full throttle at the inaugural of his replacement. Governor Mills has left no dollar unspent.

Moving at a frenetic pace, the Democrat controlled branches of Maine’s government have managed to spend themselves into the red before the end of the first quarter of the first year of Governor Mills’ first term, surpassing the predictions of even the most cynical prognosticators of doom. Mainers have been barraged by a blunderbuss of tax increase bills leaving the Maine taxpayer feeling fiscally bludgeoned and scurrying to hide their wages in every secret chamber they can find knowing that Governor Tax Mills cometh. With no less than five bills to increase tax on heating oil and fuel, Democrats have served warning that they will tax anything and tax some more to feed their blood-lust to destroy every iota of the accomplishments of the Governor they love to hate.

Lady Taxalot and Her Tax Mills

The Democrats have sworn an oath and probably just plain swore… a lot, in light of the economic rebirth of the State of Maine and it’s even brighter future on the horizon. They have vowed to undo all of the policies of Governor LePage and return Maine to Democrat policies, which are debt, poverty, and unemployment. Janet Mills has the plan to obstruct any forward motion this State has toward independence and turn us back to the perpetual state of dependency.

Her plan is an effective plan if your stated goal is to undo all the accomplishments of the past Governor. Nothing decimates a growing economy better than a mass taxation and Mills has a taxation nuclear blast that would make California envious. When she says she wants to change the direction Maine is going in, do not doubt her sincerity.

First is a tax on milk, because what every young and growing family wants is to feel the government pinch when buying that bone building nectar of the bovine. Always remember, yes, always remember, it’s for the children. But wait there is more of the mass tax-atrocity plan…

And just when you thought your family budgets were going to look a little fuller, Janet Tax Mills has better use for your hard earned dollars. She wants to track and tax every mile you drive in your vehicle. That doesn’t sound intrusive at all does it? What about rural Maine families where the typical provider has to travel longer distances to and from work?

How could Mainers, who lay claim to a strong independent streak, even think about voting for a Democrat track and tax policy? Government tracking every mile we drive and then taxing it? I think not!

Lady Taxalot has a mass umbrella approach to taxation. She has been quoted as saying we should have a tax for everyone. But mass taxation will have mass casualties for our local economies especially the more fragile rural economies, which suffer the most from government overreach.

Lady Taxalot has a history of grinding out punitive economic policies from her Tax Mills. She and Governor Baldacci were responsible for the Dirigo Health 77 million tax hike disaster that plunged our hospitals into catastrophic debt. It never covered more than 15,000 people.

She was a major part of LD 2247 which increased the paid claims tax to 4%. LD 2247 also placed increased taxes on soda, wine, beer, and syrup for soda machines creating a huge financial burden to rural business. These taxes had to be passed on to the consumer, which inevitably slows down local commerce.

Along with Governor Baldacci, Janet Mills was responsible for Amendment H-904 to LD 1919, which incurred a 5% tax against assisted living facilities. The Kennebec Journal published a letter urging this amendment to be repealed as the tax increase was such an onerous burden upon the elderly, who were being forced to deplete their limited savings accounts. Janet Mills name was mentioned specifically in connection with this, another taxation disaster.

Believe her when she says she wants to undo the policies of the past eight years. Janet Mills is the reincarnation of Governor Baldacci, bringing us back under the cloud of fiscal insolvency. The Democrats dislike prosperity because of the independence it brings people. Janet Mills wants to bring us back to a state of dependency on government and we can’t vote that in!

The Red County Caucus Issues Statement on Tax Reform

Tax Reform

As Congress debates the way forward to reform the burdensome tax code, The Red County Caucus offers some common sense parameters for effective tax reform. Most can agree that this Nation is in desperate need of tax relief but the process and implementation often get lost to the web of special interests, D.C. Power brokers, and entrenched bureaucracy. The Nation can no longer afford to wait as Washington wallows in it’s stagnation and We The People demand true and effective reform now.

The business capital of the United States continues to shrink while the size of the government continues to grow. This alarming trend is unsustainable and must be reversed. History shows that our economy functions best when the free market is strengthened and the effect of government intrusion is weakened.

To that point, Tax Reform must provide relief to all taxpayers. It is important that tax cuts have a liberating effect on the economies of every tax bracket. Every hard working American must realize more of their own income in their own pocket which in turn will loosen restricted budgets energizing local economies.

A sound tax policy must encourage business investment which is the life blood of economic growth. The anti-business policies of the past administration must be rejected for a pro-growth, pro-business tax code which gives incentive for investment in both small and large business. This will create real private sector jobs.

The balance of economic power must be shifted back to the private sector. This can only be accomplished by offsetting the tax cuts with cuts to the size of government. We must shrink the size of government.

This is accomplished through cuts to discretionary spending, meaningful reductions and cuts to the federal bureaucracy. Federal procurement procedures must be audited and true reforms implemented. An effective restructure to the entitlements must be addressed, which will focus and target the truly needy by establishing common sense parameters on cost and qualification.

The government with the least amount of functions, functions best. A simplified tax code is the best solution. As those in Washington argue the whys and wherefores of true reform and government’s place in our society, it would do our representatives well to remember the old adage: Less is More.

Nottingham Returns

It’s perplexing, at best, to find that a villain so reviled and mocked throughout history has gained such an ardent admirer here in the State of Maine. The sheriff of Nottingham, fact or fiction, remains a source of some debate for those who wish to bother. Still the fact remains that the sheriff of Nottingham, fable or no, has long invoked metaphorical images of the pompous, indifferent politician who’s every detached existence is made possible through taxes culled from the hard labors and bent backs of a people long siphoned and beaten beyond any hope of returned independence or prosperity. Yes, that is all one sentence and I’m sure I offended the syntax gods somewhere in there, but let’s move on.

Last election cycle, Emily Cain and her running mate Blaine Richardson, were defeated by Bruce Poliquin. Poliquin had just barely finished arranging the furniture in his office in Washington D.C. when he was informed that Emily Cain had announced her candidacy for the office he had just finished dusting. (You do realize the office needed a lot of dusting, as Mike Michaud preferred to stay hidden in the closet and rarely used the desk for anything. Incidentally, Emily Cain has not announced whether she will allow Blaine Richardson to tag along as her running mate this time around…we all wait with bated breath, but I digress…) There was much consternation and head scratching as to why Ms. Cain needed to announce immediately if not sooner her intention to run for office. It’s really not that confusing.

Emily Cain was afforded a great opportunity after her defeat. She could have entered the private sector and got a job, establish some “street cred” if you will. She must have quickly realized that she was in the party of fat cats, trust fund brats, and all around tax sponges. The Democrat Party greatly discourages their politicians against entering the private workforce and risking having candidates with dangerous amounts of commonsense accrued. So she’s followed a time honored Democrat tradition, suckle up to the teat of public tax funds.

Yes, the Sheriff of Nottingham has been reincarnated in a much more likable, effusive, and feminine persona, but still demands your taxes to fund her very existence. Since graduating college, Emily Cain has not held one private sector job. Everything she has done, everything she has accomplished has been funded by tax dollars. When provided an opportunity to move into the world of the self-made, entrepreneurs, businesses, and the workforce, she chose to stay in her sheltered gilded world wrapped in walls built up to shield her from the very people whose hard earned dollars were taxed away to build them.

While it’s more than ironic that she wishes to represent a people whose lives she cannot comprehend or identify with, it’s the hypocritical attacks on Representative Poliquin that reek with the cloud of stupefaction that blankets the Democrat Party. Her claims that the self-made millionaire has somehow cheated the public would be laughable if they were bits in a cheap sitcom, but instead are a sad commentary on how completely detached from reality she is. Perhaps it is the term “self-made” that she cannot grasp.

Along with her Party, Emily Cain has spent so much time living off the accomplishments of others that she cannot comprehend that anyone can create their own wealth by using their own talents, own initiative, and own hard-work to carve their own slice of the American dream. Remember this is the Party that has told American innovators and business owners “they didn’t build that.” It’s the stuff of socialism that says everything belongs to the collective and only the elite can live off it.

Everything Emily Cain has is funded by taxes. All her salaries have come from the wallets of taxpayers. Her clothes, her food, her fancies, her empire, her very existence are all a product of tax dollars. It can’t help but invoke images of the fabled Sheriff dining in opulence by the fire while his minions scour the shire of Nottingham pounding on battered hovel doors demanding new taxes to fund the sheriff’s lifestyle whims. Perhaps Emily Cain should take an honest look at who she is instead of trying to smear her opponents with the very lifestyle she has embraced.
