Silence is Golden: The Embodiment

Maine is blessed with pristine vistas where souls can find their quiet repose and reflection. The soothing sounds of nature, while rejuvenating, prove to us that in the silence of the forest it is nearly impossible, even in the whisper of the wind and the chirp of the chickadee, to find complete silence. And yet, Jared Golden has managed to achieve the impossible.

As the sound of shuttering death, the slam of the doors of venerable, generational establishments of private enterprise in Maine reaches a deafening cacophony under the heavy misguided hand of Governor Mills , there has nary been a peep from the less than Honorable Jared Golden. The Second Congressional District, which he represents, stands to have irrevocable damage done to its fragile economies as the Governor crushes them beneath her mindless heel, yet not even the customary whimper of Democrat talking points from the Congressman. Mr. Golden has become the embodiment of fearful silence; hidden, cowering, and invisible.

One would expect, as CD2 is facing impending doom from the barrage of Draconian measures from his Party, that Golden would at least have a trembling prepared statement in her defense. Is it too much to ask for a Congressman from rural Maine to have the backbone to stand against Nancy Pelosi and Governor Mills to speak in our behalf? But Behold!, fellow Mainers, Representative Golden has managed the courage to vote, in pensive, furtive subjection, to have someone else vote for him.

Silence is Golden, Still

Democrats are laying the whip to the foundations of our Republic. Those who represent us are either standing aside in mute obeisance or taking their beating in silence. What can be learned from the whimpers of the cowed, distant in the still?

Representative Ocasio-Cortez has laid down the law. The gauntlet has been thrown. The new leader of the Democrats has taken charge.

Moderate Democrats have been given notice. Voting in any way that represents your District, but does not represent the Democrat agenda, will result in being blacklisted. How will Jared Golden, who campaigned on standing up to his Party, respond?

Jared Golden voted against the gun control bill, even making a public statement that the bill did not reflect the will of his constituents. This prompted a swift rebuke from the new leader of Green Deals. Stepping out of the new green lock-step will find you on the Ocasio-Cortez naughty list.

There is an expectation, in a Republic, that the Representative should attempt to represent. Should a Representative speak to power in defense of those in his District? Not if the Democrat Party holds its sway over Golden.

Imagine in this Republic, being placed on a blacklist for attempting to represent your constituents. Imagine that Representative already too cowed and bullied to issue a public response, a rebuke for this travesty of overreach. Imagine no more! If you listen to the reality, you will hear the still and quiet that surrounds the silence that is Golden.

I find it disingenuous that the First District’s second Representative, Jared Golden, is grandstanding about withholding a salary from the President, who I believe has already opted out of his salary, all the while the second Representative from the First District, Jared Golden, has joined with the first Representative of the First District, Chellie Pingree, to cosponsor a bill that funnels Federal tax dollars directly into their campaigns.

The Art of Redefinition

If only it were a lost art and we had left it there long ago. Its device and scheme is a plague upon our Nation’s soul. So it has followed us from distant shores, infectious and diseased, to raise its ugly bulbous head in a legislative eruption of taxation.

All that you know has been turned on its head if what you define is not inclined to match the needs of the leftist Democrat Party. Like the idea that life is only life if it can by chance escape the womb to be seen in hand by those who have redefined its existence, unless if, of course, you’ re a grublet ooze encased in Martian ice deep in space. Here in Maine, the party of Janet Mills, Chellie Pingree, and Jared Golden have redefined what “no new taxes” means.

It means a blunderbuss barrage of tax increases, new tax legislation, and a quadrupling of the bond burden, not to mention a myriad of new regulatory burdens to stymie business growth. The future is bright, if you think walking down a tunnel straight into a locomotive is bright. It’s all a matter of perspective.

Here are some low-lights to the Democrat’s bulldozer approach to Maine’s economy. A local sales tax to give small business a “no new taxes” punch in the gut. As usual, rural Maine gets hit the worst.

A tax on heating oil, gasoline, propane, diesel, and every other fuel, with jet fuel exempted. That is a relief. Mainers can breath easier knowing our personal jets are tax exempted and our Democrat politicians can jet tax free to global warming summits.

Then we have an income tax increase. Why not? With all these “no new taxes”, Maine’s economy is bracing for a nuclear blast?
